This paper aims to determine whether the clinical effectiveness of two drugs with different chemical structures, Dapoxetine and Sildenafil, could be used to identify potential drug candidates in a single-centre study. This is an analysis of a randomised controlled trial (RCT) in which two different chemical compounds, dapoxetine and Sildenafil, are evaluated. The RCT was conducted by using data from the Food and Drug Administration-Approved Prescription Drug Advisory Panel (FDA-APOP) to determine the efficacy of one compound in the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The efficacy of the other compound is assessed by comparing efficacy. The results indicate that Sildenafil significantly reduces ED in male rats with respect to a mean body weight of 9.2±2.3 g (mean±SD), while Dapoxetine had no significant difference with respect to body weight.

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common issue that can be characterized by a marked drop in blood pressure and an increased risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, and cardiovascular death. It can occur in up to one-third of men, and its prevalence is rising in many countries. The World Health Organization has estimated that about one-third of men aged between 40 and 70 years experience ED. ED is a significant public health concern, with a projected number of individuals aged 70 and older in the United States projected to be treated by approximately 1 billion people (U. S.).
Sildenafil is an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), a class of enzymes that belong to the PDE-5 family. The inhibition of PDE5 by sildenafil increases levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) in the corpus cavernosum of the penis. This leads to smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow into the penis. The inhibition of PDE5 by sildenafil enhances the effects of cGMP, thereby increasing the relaxation of the smooth muscles and promoting blood flow into the corpus cavernosum. Sildenafil is the first oral prescription used for ED, with the main objective of improving sexual function and overall quality of life in patients. It has the potential to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases and to increase the quality of life of patients suffering from cardiovascular disorders.
